Corona 2020

China

Event organiser Cai Qing and curator of Burnt of Snow, Inner-Mongolia, China, January 2020, mentioned a gentle warning about a virus potentially present in the Hohhot area.  No one in Germany at that time had any awareness of the Corona Virus behaviour.

My journey to China was cancelled due to a strong infection of influenza on the day of departure Dec 28, 2019.

Now I know WHY, the Journey to China did not happen!

Meanwhile during the time of isolation, all journeys to Bangladesh, Croatia, France, Cyprus 2020 had to be cancelled

for this year and the journeys inwardly entered a deeper level of Self-Reflection.

Video based on Anupam Saikia online Live Stream Project - sleep of reason - of April 5, 2020 at 9 pm India Time

Performance for the camera, Out of Werftraum, video via mobile phone, appropriated

Anupam Saikia concept, quote::
5 April 2020 9 pm india time - 9 min.
concept by Anupam Saikia
The is a collective performance across India where sleep becomes a metaphor for the collective state of consciousness .
1. keep your lights on and at 9 pm go to FB/Instagramm Live with the heading ‘Sleep of reason’.
2. put on alarm for 9:09
3. Action can be anything, how you understand the idea of sleeping as resistance. But the body should ideally be horizontal, you can sleep on a sofa, bed, dining table etc.
4. The dress could be back or half bared, or monochromatic
5. Cover the head with any home object like bucket, bags, cloth, lampshade
6. Sleep with your reason for 9 minutes and when the alarm goes off, get up and end FB
7. use #sleep of reason, it will enable us to collect all videos together and join as one video.

The actual recording was bi-passed by Glausnitzer-Smith on April 5, 2020 at 10 pm and it was renamed: sleep of no reason.

ART- MUTATION

online art campaign by anna.laclaque, related to the Covid-19 pandemic 2020, inspired a series of art work

- vertical purge - photography, drawings/collage, paintings and video

Vertical Purge, one of several self-timed photographs, April 2020

Concept : Vertical Purge

The project vertical purge is inspired by the location-scape of the body within a restricted area and was conceived on 22 March, 2020 at 3 pm, in the presence of the radical signs of the Corona Pandemic consequences which at that time were still less transparent than they are today. The named location In the werftraum system will be established.

Processes of several performances for the camera further began to shape with the beginning of the ART-Mutation.online campaign initiated by anna.laclaque, artist in Braunschweig with my reference to her work ‘islet’.

The safety within the individual artistic compound is less than safe since some actions, such as in ‘vertical purge’ lead to a short moment of suffocation at the end of 20 min. handling blue plastic. The sudden occurrence of panic gave awareness to the side-effects of isolation.

The experience has purged my situation towards the desire of doubt.

Vertical Purge has become a process of photography, video and drawings and allows for the research on an ongoing process until perhaps it dissolves in the horizontality of inner landscape
